Paolo Scheggi

Florence, Italy 1940-1971

Paolo Scheggi was born in Florence in 1940. At the age of just over twenty he met the exponents of the Azimuth Group (art magazine founded in Milan in 1959 in which Castellani, Manzoni and Bonalumi describe the theories of introflection and extroversion). He has deep esteem for the Zero Group in Düsseldorf, which opposes abstractionism and realism in favor of kinetic-programmed art.

Scheggi breathes the air of the Spatialists, who intend to go beyond the pictorial surface in search of the third dimension. He creates perfect geometric shapes, ellipses and circles which he develops until he obtains the inter-surfaces (works created by superimposing three canvases). He prefers certain colors such as white, black and red.

He participates in numerous Italian and international museums such as the Museum für Konkrete Kunst in Germany, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, the Kunsten Museum of Modern Art Aalborg in Denmark, the Muzej Suvremene Umjetonosti in Zagreb.
